The Qa Qa
Vaguely insectoid in look, but not in nature, the Qa Qa species are unusual in that they have part of their consciousness in hyperspace. This can sometimes make them appear a little strange and aloof to other species, but in general they are friendly and peaceful enough, although it is sometimes difficult to fathom their intentions.
They are contemplative in nature, and are cautious about increasing their population beyond the amount that will be sustainable in future.
As might be expected they excel in hyperspace technologies, and their warships emphasize strategic swiftness over heavy armament.
